From August 28 to 31, 2010, Special Representative Wu Dawei of the Chinese Government on the Korean Peninsular Affairs visited Japan. During the visit, Wu met respectively with Japanese officials including Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshito Sengoku and Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada. Wu also held talks with Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Kenichiro Sasae and head of the Japanese delegation to the six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue Akitaka Saiki.
Both sides agreed that advancing the process of the six-party talks and maintaining the stability and peace of the Korean Peninsula are in the interest of all parties concerned. They vowed to make joint efforts with relevant parties to restart the six-party talks at an early date and make the situation on the peninsula back on the track of dialogue and negotiations as soon as possible.
