Dai Bingguo Meets with British Shadow Foreign Secretary of the Opposition Conservative Party Hague
2009/12/01

On November 30, 2009, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo met in Zhongnanhai with British Shadow Foreign Secretary of the opposition Conservative Party William Hague. Both sides held friendly talks on China-Britain relations and other issues.

Dai said that the world today is quite different from what it was in the last century and global challenges can't be addressed without international cooperation. Dai said all the countries should abandon the cold war mentality, respect each other's social system and development mode and enhance dialogue and cooperation with each other. Dai said China hopes the Conservative Party would continuously play an active role in boosting Sino-British comprehensive strategic partnership, noting the Party has made great contributions to the two countries' relations.

Speaking highly of China's achievements in its economic and social development, Hague said global problems cannot be solved without China's efforts. The Conservative Party respects China's right of choosing its own road of development and supports enhanced cooperation with China to further push forward bilateral ties, he said.
