On December 1, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun met with a visiting delegation headed by Viktor Orbán, chairman of Hungary's top opposition party Fidesz. Zhang said since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries 60 years ago, China-Hungary relations have been developing smoothly. China is ready to actively carry out exchanges including party-to-party contacts with Hungary based on the principles of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit and non-interference into each other's internal affairs, in a bid to push for sound and fast development of China-Hungary friendly cooperative partnership.
Orbán said Fidesz attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with China, and is ready to enhance pragmatic cooperation with China on economy, trade, finance and education in the future to push for greater development of bilateral ties.
