On March 9, 2010, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun met at Diaoyutai Sate Guesthouse with First Vice-President of Burundi Yves Sahinguvu, who is here in China on an inspection tour.
Zhai said that bilateral relations have been developing smoothly on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation since the resumption of the diplomatic ties between the two countries nearly four decades ago. China thanked for Burundi's precious support on issues concerning China's core and major interests. China is ready to work with Burundi to actively implement the outcome at the Fourth Ministerial Conference of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum (FOCAC) and push forward bilateral friendly cooperative relations.
Sahinguvu thanked for China's long-standing assistance to his country, saying Burundi hopes to further strengthen cooperation with China in the fields of agriculture, energy, tourism, telecommunications, infrastructure construction and human resources development. Sahinguvu also reaffirmed Burundi's adherence to the one-China policy.
